Spring Forward

The time change has been a little rough on Eli. It's now 10:15am, and Sleeping Beauty has yet to grace us with his presence. He went to bed at 8:00pm, so what's the deal? Lucky for him, Clayton is on spring break, so we don't have anywhere to be early this week. We've also been trying to give up the morning nap, so that could have something to do with the extra sleep. Must be nice to have the option. Part of me thinks I should go wake him up. The other part of me is enjoying relaxing, sitting here next to one quiet, coloring three year old.

WOW what a sleepy boy!! Lucky Mama! What time did he wake up?? Oh wouldn't it be a dream to go to bed at 8 and sleep 'til whenever. Maybe we can do that when we are....48ish years old?

Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome

Hypoplastic left heart syndrome is an abnormality in which the left side of the heart (left ventricle, aortic valve and aorta) is severely underdeveloped. The condition is congenital (present at birth).

When the left-side heart structures are underdeveloped, the right side of the heart must pump blood to both the lungs and to the rest of the body. In the womb, a baby's body receives oxygen-rich blood through a communication (connection) called the patent ductus arteriosus (PDA). After birth, the PDA spontaneously begins to close. An undeveloped heart cannot pump efficiently enough to support life and that is when a baby with HLHS gets very sick. Without treatment, the defect is usually fatal within the first several days of life.
